Ganja, Collie, Sensi, Healing of the Nation, o sencillamente Herb. La mariguana ha sido un referente constante de la cultura Rastafari. Fumar para limpiar el cuerpo y la mente, abrir la consciencia, sanar el alma y acercarse a Jah. Se cree que el uso de esta planta se adoptó por la fuerte migración Hindú después del abolicionismo en el Caribe. Desde los años cuarenta del siglo XX se relaciona el uso del Cannabis con la cultura Rastafari: es una forma de expresión, de acercarse a Dios y de revelarse contra Babylon –el mundo occidental-.
El Reggae es otra forma de expresión muy importante en esta cultura –si no es que la mayor- y el referente del Cannabis como elemento esencial en la vida diaria es muy común. Artistas como Peter Tosh, Bob Marley , Max Romeo o The Uppseters han usado su poder como figuras mediaticas para hablar a favor de esta bondadosa planta, y su mensaje ha llegado cada rincón del mundo; luchar contra a aquellos intolerantes que ven a la mariguana como una amenaza , contra los gobiernos que la satanizan y prohiben.
Hoy mas que nunca el debate sobre la legalización se ha abierto. En muchos lugares del llamado Babylon surge la inquietud del uso de la mariguana y la batalla poco a poco se irá ganando.
